Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
P1 have been learning all about the life cycle of a chicken as part of their topic, ‘The Farm.’ There were some great observations made as they monitored the eggs throughout the 21 day incubation period. There was huge excitement when hatching day finally arrived!
P1 are now the proud guardians of two new chicks, Sunny and Dubh.
The teaching staff of Sacred Heart P.S. joined up with some of their counterparts from St Mary’s P.S. Dunsford for a highly valuable CPD (Continued Professional Development) session with Claire Devlin Educational Consultancy on Monday.
The focus centred on activity based learning, World Around Us topics, loose parts theory in education and methods to incorporate play across the whole school.
This was a highly valuable forum for all involved with a lot of learning to be taken forward and implemented within our school operations.

Freya - P6
Freya is a hard worker who demonstrates great focus during lessons. She has been working very hard during numeracy lessons, particularly on division, and has been quietly supporting those around her. Freya’s confidence in this area is growing and she has been eager to extend her knowledge through problem solving and reasoning.
Freya shows great skill during sporting activity and is a valued member of the school Gaelic and Netball teams. She is also always keen to try new things and has been thoroughly applying herself to new challenges in P6, such as the Transfer Test process, cursive writing and the tin whistle. Importantly, she has been working just as hard on these areas outside of school as she does within school.
Finally, Freya is an extremely polite and well-mannered pupil who treats all those around her with the upmost respect. She is a great friend to all those in her class and makes sure that she talks to everyone.
Well done!
We held a hugely successful afternoon with our children, parents and teachers collaborating in what transpired to be an enjoyable Robotics workshop.
Using bespoke coding software, everyone was challenged to code an Mbot robot car. Tasks involved algorithms, problem solving and decision making. All in attendance worked together to produce some excellent outcomes.
Sacred Heart P.S. has a strong commitment to emerging technologies and we will continue to provide opportunities within the curriculum and with collaborative projects, to enhance everyone’s learning within the area.
P4 have successfully completed the five week REACH Programme. REACH (Resilience Education Assisting Change to Happen) is a dedicated youth work initiative which supports pupils, teachers and parents within schools, helping to improve emotional health and wellbeing outcomes for children.
The P6/P7 class will be the next group within school who will be undertaking the programme.
