Bike to School Week
Bike to School Week is a week-long event taking place this Monday 28th September – 2nd October 2020. During these five days we encourage as many people as possible to walk, scoot or cycle to school. Pupils will engage in cycling related activities, quizzes and have the opportunity to enter the Bike to School Week photo competition.
Visit www.sustrans.org.uk/biketoschoolweek
Bike to School Week is a great way to kickstart active travel at a school and encourage a healthy school run for all students. Check out www.sustrans.org.uk for more information, including a video on how to carry out a bike check and a free guide on walking, cycling and scooting to school.
Throughout October we are challenging children to become Sustrans' Champions if they successfully complete 15 days of walking, cycling, scooting or park and stride to school. They will be presented with a certificate if they complete the challenge.
Please use the bike storage area beside our outdoor classroom. Remember to always wear a helmet when cycling and take care travelling in and out of the school entrances. 🚴🏻♂️🚴🏻♀️⛑😀👌🏻
SchoolMoney Cashless System
Our new SchoolMoney cashless system is now in operation from today. Parents should have received a text with a link earlier this afternoon. Parents will now be able to log in to their child’s account and make bookings. Please remember to select ‘meal’ if your child is having school dinners or select ‘packed lunch’ if you are providing lunch. From this Monday 28th September you will be continuously required to use SchoolMoney to indicate if your child is having dinner, lunch or indeed attending clubs. For your convenience, you can block book in weeks or months.
Please remember, Free School Meals still need to be booked using the system but you will not be charged.
Similarly to implementing anything new, the system may take a little getting used to so please do not hesitate to contact the school office should you have a query or require additional support.

A seating plan will be in operation and staff who are in attendance on the evening will direct you to your assigned seat.

Thank you.

Internet and online safety is an area of extreme importance. Many apps and websites can be useful educational tools which aid learning. However, it is important to be aware of the risks that can lie behind popular sites. Many of these apps and websites have age restrictions, such as YouTube, Snapchat and Tiktok which are all aimed at 13+ years. Some of these also have privacy settings which allows for greater control over your child's online presence. For more information please see the 'Internet and Online Safety' section on the school website or follow the link below.

Dear Parent/ Gardian
Due to the current guidelines in respect of the Covid 19 pandemic, it will not be possible to celebrate the sacraments in the traditional way. The arrangements below have been agreed in consultation with Fr.Fleck and St.Joseph’s Primary School Tyrella.
The service will begin at 11am and all in attendance should be seated before 10.30am.
Children will be seated with their class and parents/ family members will be seated together.
Children are only permitted to be accompanied by two family members. Given the restrictions within the church, other family members may not attend. The service will be available to view on the parish website. https://www.mcnmedia.tv/camera/dundrum-and-tyrella-parish-dundrum
Fr.Fleck will instruct and guide children from the altar as children are unable to attend practice in the church.
Photographs can be taken outside the church and a photographer has been arranged for the community centre afterwards. Miss Crozier will provide each child with a time slot.
Children should wear normal First Holy Communion attire and are not required to wear a mask.
***Adults should wear a face covering whilst inside the church.***
If you have any additional queries, please don’t hesitate to contact the School Office.
Many thanks,
A. Doyle
Seesaw is a digital learning journal that we will begin to use at Sacred Heart. Each child will have their own account accessed via their individual QR code or text code. Children can show their work by adding it to their journal using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. Teachers are able to set activities and respond to pupil work online. Families can also connect to their child's account where they can access their journal, receive updates on the learning taking place in school and communicate with the class teacher.
Please see the 'Information for Parents' section on the school website for video tutorials on using Seesaw.
