Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our Summer Scheme comes to a close tomorrow (Friday) as we bring to an end two weeks of non-stop fun and entertainment.
Yet again we provided an action packed five days for the children with everybody getting to experience a mix of activities.
The P1/P2 grouping were engaged in outdoor play, indoor play, clay making, baking (top hats), horticulture and a movie marathon.
The P3/P4’s were out working on the vegetable patch, cooking, navigating obstacle courses with Spheros, coding, constructing propeller cars and minibeast hunting.
The P5/P6/P7 boys and girls took part in beach art, experienced various cuisines, completed self portraits and enjoyed watching different film genres on the big screen.
Ulster GAA and ActiSport were also present on Monday and Thursday respectively as the children got plenty of outdoor exercise in the glorious weather.
What a fantastic week we had here in Sacred Heart P.S. for the beginning of our Summer Scheme.
All the children got to enjoy sessions from ActiSport and Ulster GAA on Thursday and Friday respectively,
Throughout the week there were lots of other great initiatives and activities taking place.
Miss Kearney’s group got to enjoy baking, colouring, dancing, outside play, movies, painting, pasta colouring, arts/crafts and indoor play.
Miss Crozier’s group made Rice Krispie buns and had a blast with a movie afternoon. They also made paper mâché balloon animals with carnival and party games being a particular highlight. Some amazing Lego bridges were designed and built whilst a number of board game competitions took place.
Mr Crowley’s group took on various Minecraft challenges with the creating of a famous global landmark being a popular venture. This group also produced some amazing chalk drawings as well as enjoying a healthy rivalry in the Kahoot quizzes. The bridge building STEM task captured everyone’s imagination.
We all enjoyed the first week of Summer Scheme and we look forward to Week 2 which will run from Monday 12th July to Friday 16th July from 10am to 1pm each day.
As a school we were delighted this week to see that we featured prominently in the July edition of the Litter Less Campaign Newsletter.
Not only that but our village clean up that took place in November 2020 also made it into an article in their globally based Eco Schools’ publication.
Both articles can be viewed at the following links:
