Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Sacred Heart P.S. closed for the Easter holidays yesterday. Before we went off, there were a number of events that took place to mark the run up to this special week.
On Monday morning, all classes took part in an Easter Egg Hunt around the school premises. This was a throughly enjoyable quest with the children given clues and hints to help them along the way.
That afternoon a special outdoor assembly was held in the school yard. The focus centred around the events of Holy Week and a reflection on the religious aspect of Easter.
Before everyone went home, every child in the school was presented with an Easter Egg courtesy of our ever generous POSH. This was a lovely gesture and was appreciated by all.
We would like to wish all our school community a very happy and peaceful Easter.
The school will be entering the Irish News GAA School Coaching Days competition. There are five sessions up for grabs with a free set of training bibs also included among the prizes.
The first token will be launching in the Saturday 10th April edition of the paper. Print collector cards can be downloaded and printed off at irishnews.com/coachingdays.
We would encourage all our school community to support this by collecting tokens from the paper on a daily basis. We need a minimum of 250 tokens to boost our initial entry.
Thank you.
Sacred Heart have established a strong working relationship with St Mary’s University College, Belfast. This link ensures that student teachers get to avail of a high standard teaching placement in our school as they progress through their degree journey.
We welcomed Miss Boden and Miss Cafolla into our surroundings back in February as they both commenced an eight week placement. Miss Boden was attached to the P3/4 class with Miss Cafolla linking in with P5/6.
Today we said goodbye to both as their time in Sacred Heart came to end. The children and staff alike thoroughly enjoyed having them integrate into our school community as they completed very successful placements.
Good luck in the future Miss Boden and Miss Cafolla from all at Sacred Heart P.S. Dundrum!
This week the school participated in the third and final Litter Less campaign challenge. The brief was to take part in a litter hunting trail. These trails were planned in school with our teachers as well at home with parents and families.
Building on our successful community based litter pick last November, the uptake for this challenge was superb. The P7 class were particularly creative as they got involved in a ‘Say it in a Snapshot’ element of the task. They took on the role of ‘Young Reporters’ and used their photo journalistic skills to gain interesting perspectives on our local environment.
As a school that is committed to the upkeep and preservation of our environs, we were enthused to take part in the Litter Less campaign these past few months. Well done to all our pupils and their families for the great effort that was given to such a worthwhile project!

Monday 22nd March was another milestone in our journey through education in this current global pandemic. It was the first time since December 2020 that all our children were together again under the one roof in school.
We had a fun packed week with all our classes enjoying a multitude of exciting and engaging lessons.
Bears, space, Viking long boats, Sphero Balls, coding, digital advert creation, nature walks, castle exploration, bug hotels, debating, hot seating and outdoor play. The list is exhaustive such was the amount of activities going on in Sacred Heart this week.
It truly is great to be back!

Today our school Eco-Council were proud to unveil our official Green Flag. The flag accreditation is the result of a lot of hard work that was undertaken in the past year by the school Eco-Council under the stewardship of Miss Crozier.
Sacred Heart have made a host of eco based improvements to school life in recent times and the awarding of the flag is testament to to the progress and achievement in this area.
Well done everyone!
We are back!
For the first time since 18th December 2020, all the pupils of Sacred Heart P.S. are back as one in the school building.
It has been a long time coming but the staff and pupils alike were delighted today to be able to come together as a school community once again.
We look forward to our time together up until the Easter break and we cannot wait for Term 3 to start on Monday 12th April!
We are now in the penultimate week of our Lenten challenge. The kilometre totals have really increased over this past while and it is great to see so many out walking/running to hit the target.
There are just ten more days left of the venture and we would encourage as many individuals and families as possible to partake in what is the most worthy of charitable causes.
