Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We welcomed local author and illustrator Kieron Black to Sacred Heart P.S. today as he hosted a workshop as part of National Storytelling Week.
The workshop centred around Kieron’s own literary creation, ‘The Goblin’s Blue Blanket.’ Kieron did an animated read through before leading P4, P5, P6 and P7 in a sketching class in which they picked up some wonderful drawing tips and techniques.
Well done to all the boys and girls for such engaging participation. Thanks too goes to our Literacy co-ordinator Miss Byrne for organising.

January is coming to a close and with everyone working to the best of their ability, it turned out to be a great month in Sacred Heart P.S.
Our teachers are always keen to acknowledge and reward things like effort, persistence, hard work, resilience and commitment. All these strengths and more were present in our Pupil of the Month winners.
Well done to Úna P1, Caoimhe P2, Darragh P3, Raymie P4, Eoghan P5, Aoife P6 and Katie-Ann P7!
As part of Catholic Schools’ Week, we as a school focussed on a few different themes in relation to the annual celebration.
From Monday to Friday, all the adults in school kept a particular eye out for children who engaged in acts of kindness.
What was evident throughout the five days was that kindness permeates through the whole of Sacred Heart P.S. and that those awarded recognition certificates were truly deserving of having their kind acts acknowledged.

Ronan - P3
Ronan is an extremely kind and well-mannered student who loves school life and enjoys learning. He is a hard worker who has a keen eye for learning new facts and telling them to the class.
Ronan always comes into class with a smile on his face and is full of enthusiasm to learn something new each day. Ronan loves learning new jokes and enjoys sharing them. He has a great personality and shows a caring nature to help others when they need it whether that is outside in the playground or in the classroom. He retains information excellently and has really enjoyed partitioning in numeracy.
Ronan is a very deserving winner of this award as he continues each day to be a great role model for Sacred Heart P.S. Well done!
It was all about science today as Mr Doyle’s P4 class welcomed their friends from Knockevin School to take part in another brilliant joint venture.
The science challenge covered many different aspects with electricity, circuits, propulsion and trajectory all being major themes.
Learning coupled with enjoyment. Fun times!
A huge well done goes to our P4 pupil Cahal who was selected as the winner (out of over 3000 entries) in Messy Play’s school competition. The competition set out to find the best entry for the creation of a piece of outdoor learning and development equipment.
Cahal’s design (see below) was praised for its ‘attention to detail,’ ‘functionality’ and ‘intriguing mathematical and cognitive challenge for all ages.’
Messy Play will now build Cahal’s creation and then deliver it to our school so that all Sacred Heart P.S pupils can enjoy it.
A great week was had by everyone in Sacred Heart P.S. with routine very much re-established after our Christmas/New Year break. Each class has got back into the swing of things with plenty of learning and fun being had by everyone.
Well done to our seven brilliant Pupil of the Week recipients today, namely Darragh P1, Brooklyn P2, Rosie-Leigh P3, Cahal P4, Eddie P5, Emily P6 and Erin P7!
Aliaith P2
Aliaith is a very worthy recipient of the Principal’s Award. She takes great care with everything she does and is making fantastic progress in all areas of her learning. This can be attributed to her enthusiastic attitude towards all aspects of school life.
When she is given feedback on her work, she listens intently and demonstrates a determination to always improve her work the next time. What a super characteristic to have!
In addition to this, she is so thoughtful and caring in her interactions with her classmates and does everything with a huge smile on her face.
Thank you for always trying your best and being a great friend to everyone in P2, Aliaith.
