Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
The judging for the Dundrum Village Association’s Easter Egg Design Competition took place on Friday past. Members of the DVA and DDA formed the judging panel and they were all very impressed by the standard of entries.
All the winners from our school can get their prizes when they attend the DVA’s Easter Fun Day on Monday 1st April from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Dundrum Castle.
Yesterday our P7 pupil Christopher travelled to the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin to represent Sacred Heart P.S. at the 2024 Irish Minor Schools’ Championship. Christopher took part in the ‘Butterfly Heats’ and after a sterling performance he set a new PB.
We are all extremely proud of your efforts Christopher. Well done!
Sacred Heart P.S. are engaged with strong links with all the universities in the North that offer teaching qualification pathways for their students.
We were delighted these past few months to have Miss Niamh Milligan from St Mary’s University College, Belfast, with our P6/P7 class.
Miss Milligan finished her placement with us yesterday and we were delighted to present her with a set of mementoes to mark her contribution to our school.
Seth P4
Seth has had a great year so far in P4. He is extremely well-mannered and is kind towards children and adults alike. Seth has a caring nature which he demonstrates daily by looking out for his classmates and younger children both in class and on the playground. He always puts others before himself.
Seth works hard at every subject and his work is always presented beautifully. He tries his best with everything, showing particular aptitude for World Around Us and Numeracy.
Aside from his academic achievements, Seth excels at sport. His participation and ability during PE and extra curricular sport is always excellent. He shows superb sportsmanship by including everyone in team sports. He is a leader on and off the pitch!
Well done!
Laughlin P1, Jessica P2, Penelope P3, Eilish P4, Charley P5, Alfie P6 and Ellie P7 were all called to the office on Friday afternoon to receive their Pupil of the Week certifications.
Between sporting endeavours, school trip engagement, academic prowess and contribution to extra curricular activities, this week’s winners were all wholly deserving of their accolades.
Well done!
Our P3’s received the Sacrament of Reconciliation this afternoon in the Sacred Heart Church. Led by celebrant Canon Fleck, the boys and girls participated brilliantly in the service, contributing via song, music, drama and readings.
Thank you goes to Mr McCartan for leading the class in their preparations and to our classroom assistants Mrs Orla Quinn, Mrs Betty Hogg and Mrs Ciara Stratton for their support. Gratitude is extended to our school choir under the auspices of Mr Doyle along with Mr Paul Madden for their beautiful singing and musical accompaniment. We thank as well Mrs Mary Polland for having the chapel prepared so beautifully for the occasion.
Finally, to the boys and girls of P3. You have now reached another milestone on your spiritual journey. Well done!
To usher in the St Patrick’s Day weekend celebrations, Sacred Heart P.S. partook in Green Day today. Children came to school dressed in green before we kicked off the festivities with a concert that was played out to a capacity crowd in the hall.
Seachtain na Gaelige, limericks, Irish dancing, traditional Irish music, recitation, tin whistle, proverbs, Scoil Spreagtha, arts and crafts, poetry, singing, the story of St Patrick and potato planting were just some of brilliant undertakings that took place to celebrate the life of our patron saint.
A great day of culture was had by all!
