Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
This afternoon the various winners at our annual school Sports Day were presented with their medals and trophies. There were also special presentations to Young at Heart, the Egg Toss winner Noah from P4, Penalty Kick champion Oisin from P5 and the top three in the staff race namely Miss Byrne, Toni O’Neill and Mr Doyle.
The boys and girls of Young at Heart had a wonderful end of year trip to Mountpanther Farm Park today. Everyone got to enjoy the vast and varied activities on show. This was a brilliant way to celebrate what has been a truly memorable year for all.
Thank you to Toni, Orla and Cora for organising it. A reminder that Young at Heart finishes for this academic year at 2pm this Friday.

Mr Lundy’s P5 class had the pleasure of visiting W5 in Belfast today. It proved to be an incredibly enjoyable and educational trip for all of them.
W5 is an interactive science and discovery centre that offers a wide range of fascinating exhibits and activities. From the moment they stepped inside, everyone was captivated by the interactive displays and hands-on experiences that allowed for the exploration of various scientific concepts.
The class had the opportunity to engage in experiments, build structures and even experience the thrill of a virtual reality adventure. The highlight of the trip was the "Discovery" area, where they delved into topics like Physics, Biology and Technology through engaging workshops.
It was a truly enriching experience that sparked curiosity and inspired a love for learning!
Everyone was early to rise this morning as the group enjoyed breakfast together before meeting with team leader Patsy at 9:30am.
After some instruction, we made our way in the minibus to the shore at Warrenpoint. After some initial swimming to get used to the water, two groups were formed for giant paddle boarding. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this exercise with plenty of fun and frolics throughout!
With the jet ski now in operation, the banana boat came out. It provided for tremendous amusement with high octane action all the way.
The final activity was a short walk to the jetty at the pier. Here, the boys and girls got the chance to jump into the Irish Sea, using somersaults, backflips and any other random way possible.
The journey was then made back to the Lodge for lunch before departure at 2pm with everyone arriving safely back to school for 3pm.
A truly wonderful time was had by all the P7’s. They are to be commended for their attitude, participation and manners. We also thank Miss Crozier and Maria Hogg for accompanying the children on the trip as they volunteered their time to do so. Thanks is also relayed to the staff of East Coast Adventure for their hospitality and guidance.
After a wholesome dinner, the boys and girls were tasked with taking part in a NightLine challenge. Blindfolded, everyone had to work together to navigate obstacles, paths, hazards and unexpected water mishaps!
Next up, the group proceeded into the hills. Leader Dermot performed some traditional songs much to our delight. A fire was then lit and each person got the opportunity to toast marshmallows to put on their S’mores.
To close the night off, we retired to our lodge in anticipation of another exciting day ahead tomorrow!
What an amazing time we have had so far at East Coast Adventure! After setting off from school this morning at 10:30am, we arrived at our destination just after 11am. Once settled, everyone was assigned to their dorms before a lovely spot of lunch was had.
The first activity was archery. Some fun competitions were had with a great competitive element among everyone. Even the staff showed off their skills with Miss Crozier proving to be a top level archer!
The climbing walls were up next. This year, the boys and girls got the opportunity to try the new American summit and what a challenge it proved to be. The ascents provided plenty of excitement.
A superb time is being had by all so far!
P2 have shown a keen interest in 'Our World.' Today they took advantage of the sunshine to explore how shadows are made.
First they learnt that they needed a light source and a solid object to make a shadow. Then they compared their own shadow at 9:00am and 1:00pm.
This was a good opportunity to learn some new vocabulary. They learnt that 'to compare' means to look at the similarities and differences of two things.
The pupils then recognised that their shadow had changed because the position of the sun had changed. Predictions were then made and it was predicted that when the sun is lower in the sky in the evening, shadows will be longer.
During play time, the class created some animal shadows using their hands and had a fun game of 'shadow catchies.’Who knew shadows could be so much fun?
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
