Elliot - P5
Elliot is receiving this award as he consistently applies himself to the best of his ability and demonstrates a great understanding of his learning. His attitude to school is exemplary and he is always willing to challenge himself across the whole curriculum.
He has shown great interest in the class World Around Us topic, ‘Water,’ getting involved in the discussions and expressing his thoughts on it. He embraces a challenge and consistently goes above and beyond what is asked of him.
He is a fantastic learner and an even better friend. Elliot makes sure that he shares his learning with his peers and is always there to collaborate when necessary.
Well done!
Move over Barra Best! There is a new generation of weather reporters evolving in Mr McCartan’s P3 class!
Today in P3 the boys and girls used iPads and a Green Screen to create their very own weather report. This links in with the class World Around Us topic which is 'Whatever the Weather.'
P3 have been learning all about the different types of weather they receive at various times throughout the year. They have spoken about how they find out our weather through a weather forecast delivered by a weather reporter. Today, they all got a chance to role play being that reporter.
Miss Crozier’s P6/P7 class held their Dragon’s Den event today as part of their JEP (Junior Entrepreneur Programme). Five groups pitched some excellent ideas to the quartet of Dragons with ‘The Brainstormers’ team coming out on top with their concept of bespoke water bottles.
Well done to the children for the amount of thought and effort that went into their presentations. Thanks too goes to our Dragons (Mr Maurice Redmond (BoG), Mrs Theresa Rankin (BoG), Mr Aidan Rooney (Mourne Seafood Bar/Squid Shack) and Mr Fitzsimons) for their constructive feedback and suggestions.
Best of luck to the class as they move forward with their product!
P5 pupil Charlie has been making great strides in the swimming pool of late as he has recently completed a magnificent 1000m (1km) distance trial. This equated to 40 lengths of Downpatrick swimming pool!
Charlie is a very keen swimmer and enjoys going to sessions with his P5 class every Thursday morning. The school gives the opportunity for every child from P4 to P7 to go swimming during the academic year for a term at a time. It is a very important part of our PE curriculum.
Well done Charlie!
