The P1 class have been enjoying using a host of new equipment and resources which has been aiding their programme of outdoor learning through play as of late.
The children are gaining massive benefit from this recent investment and it is having a highly positive impact on all learning in the Foundation Stage.
Miss Crozier’s P6/P7 class took part in HIP Psychology’s online megathon on Thursday afternoon as part of their work directed towards Anti-Bullying Week.
The workshop was highly engaging with the boys and girls enjoying written, oral and online tasks. There were some key learning points taken on board in what was a very worthwhile undertaking.
Well done to P6 pair Cara and Christopher who won the online Kahoot quiz that formed part of the session. Very worthy winners!
Peter and Gavin from the Newcastle division of the Fire and Rescue Service visited P5 today for a wonderfully informative session.
The boys and girls had the issue of fire safety in the home highlighted to them as well as the importance of having smoke alarms tested on a regular basis. Everyone got to learn about what a firefighter does as well as getting to try on all of their work clothing and apparatus.
To finish the session off, Mr Fitzsimons and Cora were challenged to get bedecked in the full firefighter’s uniform within a time limit. The average time for a fireman to do this in the Newcastle station is 30 seconds. Mr Fitzsimons done it in 29 seconds. A time he was rightly proud of!
This afternoon at assembly it was announced that we raised the princely sum of £329 for Children in Need!
Our three School Council led fundraisers included ‘guess the amount of sweets in the jar,’ ‘guess the name of the teddy bear’ and a non-uniform day today.
Well done to Paudie in P5 who was the first person to guess correctly in regards to the amount of sweets in the jar. 111 to be precise! Ronan in P3 selected the correct name for the teddy bear, the aptly named Vernon! Both boys were delighted with their efforts and they got to take home their prizes.
A big thank you goes to our School Council (pictured) along with Mr Cartan and Annette for their efforts in raising much needed funds for the charity. Thank you too goes to our school community for all of your support.
Scarlett P3
Scarlett is an extremely well behaved and well mannered pupil in the P3 class. She loves taking part in all class activities and shows a fantastic understanding in both Numeracy and Literacy.
Scarlett is a great friend to everyone in P3 and always thinks of others. She takes great pride in her work and always produces well presented and tidy schoolwork.
Scarlett loves sharing stories with the class and enjoys talking about her own personal interests.
A massive well done to Scarlett who thoroughly deserves this award!

This Friday Children in Need takes place. The date is also earmarked for Universal Children’s Day. For a charitable venture, our School Council have decided to fundraise for Children in Need.
There will be opportunities throughout the week to ‘guess the amount of sweets in the jar’ (50p a guess - unlimited guesses) and ‘guess the name of the teddy bear’ (50p a guess - one guess). Winners will be announced at assembly on Friday.
The School Council will be available before school, during break and during lunch this week to sell guesses. Children are permitted to bring money into school for this purpose.
Penelope P2
Penelope is a truly deserving recipient of the Principal’s Award as she goes above and beyond every day at school. She always offers help to students and adults alike, and carries out all responsibilities with a remarkable maturity.
Penelope is extremely caring and if she ever sees a student playing alone, she makes it her business to include them. She takes pride in her work and completes every task to the best of her ability.
Well done!
