Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
With all of our children now fully back into the routine of school life, we are looking forward to a very positive Term 3 in Sacred Heart.
Each class had a productive and busy week as teaching and learning took hold in the classroom, outdoors and beyond.
Everyone can keep up to date with the daily facets of school life here in Sacred Heart through the class pages on our website:

This week saw the return of our joint parish/school afternoon club, Young at Heart. The boys and girls were delighted to get back to familiar surroundings as they enjoyed lots of fun activities. They also got their first experience of the new outdoor play area that has been recently constructed. Welcome back everyone!
This is a big weekend of football in the club as underage training gets underway after a long absence. It will be great to see all of our boys and girls back at the club.
The following are the details of the various age groups and training times:
U-9.5’s - Saturday morning from 10am to 11am at the pitch. This is for all P4 and P5 boys and girls.
U-11.5’s - Sunday morning from 10am to 11am at the pitch. This is for all P6 and P7 boys.
Nursery - Sunday morning from 10am to 11am at the pitch. This is for all Pre-School and P1 boys and girls.
U-7.5’s - Sunday morning from 10am to 11am at the pitch. This is for all P2 and P3 boys and girls.
This afternoon Judith Thompson from Newry and Mourne District Council visited the school to present us with new road safety signage. The signage will be used at different locations around our premises to promote a strong message in relation to the health and safety of all those who drive to and from our school.
Our brilliant PTA POSH have launched their first fundraiser of 2021. The Bonus Ball concept is new to Sacred Heart and we look forward to it being a big success.
There are 100 numbers available to purchase, £10 for each number. The prize money is extremely attractive with the first number being drawn getting £150, second £100 and third £50.
School Money is set up for the purpose and the fundraiser can be found under ‘Shop.’ Numbers can be purchased off any member of POSH and as well as this clearly marked envelopes can be sent into school with the money. Purchasers will be given a random number allocation.
The numbers are expected to sell fast and once again our school community’s support for the initiative is as always very much valued. The draw will take place in early May.
This afternoon our children received the Sacrament of Reconciliation from Parish Priest Father Fleck.
In what was a very reflective ceremony, the children engaged in prayer, put on a dramatisation of the Story of Zacchaeus and brilliantly read the Prayers of the Faithful. They were a credit to themselves, their families and our school.
Thank you goes to class teacher Mr Brennan for preparing the children so well for receiving the Sacrament. Thanks is also reserved for Mr Doyle who provided the music for the ceremony.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
