Literacy

Today in literacy, the children held a class debate on whether robots should be given the same rights as humans. There were some interesting arguments from both sides, with one team arguing that robots shouldn't be used in medicine as they could malfunction and make mistakes, while the other team argued that people can get tired and stressed and make similar mistakes. Both sides offered well thought out and developed points, and were able to present these clearly and confidentially.

We have started a new topic in creative writing: Report writing! The boys and girls were given different bits of information and pieced them together to figure out the topic and subheadings to create a report.

For our creative writing, P5/6 have been focusing on persuasive writing. We have familiarised ourselves with this type of writing and all the techniques used, we have evaluated a piece of persuasive writing to see how it can be improved, and now we are planning a piece of writing as a class to see if we can persuade our readers to consider school trips to space! In our writing, we are including a clear and well structured opinion and are using strong persuasive language such as rhetorical questions, invoking imagery and appealing to the target audience’s sense of adventure!

Should We Consider a School Trip to Space?

Class debate. In relation to our Creative Writing topic which is 'Discussion Text'.
