P1 had a fantastic day at Exploris Aquarium in Portaferry as part of their learning about life under the sea. The boys and girls especially enjoyed taking the ferry and seeing all the different sea creatures. They were fascinated by the colourful fish, mesmerised by the jellyfish, and even got to touch some starfish in the rockpool area.

To wrap up their WAU topic, The Farm, P1 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Streamvale Farm alongside their friends from Knockevin. With the sun shining, the children had the chance to see and learn about a variety of animals, with the puppies and rabbits being firm favourites. They watched an exciting sheepdog agility show, took a fun tractor ride, and ended the day playing in the cannonball and tractor area.
As part of P1's new topic, The Farm, the children explored the life cycle of a chicken. They placed eggs in an incubator for 21 days and eagerly watched as tiny chicks hatched. This hands-on science experience was both exciting and educational, allowing P1 to witness the life cycle firsthand while also learning to care for the chicks.
The sun shone brightly today for the P1 ASPIRE visit with their friends from Knockevin. The P1 children were thrilled to show off their baby chicks, and everyone had a fantastic time engaging in farm-themed play-based learning activities, both indoors and outdoors.

P1 created their own fairy houses as part of their World Around Us topic on houses and homes. We are incredibly impressed by the creativity and effort put into each one! These wonderful creations will be a fantastic addition to our outdoor play area, providing opportunities for imaginative play throughout the year.
Thank you to Saoirse's mum, Bronagh, who visited today to talk to the boys and girls about her job as a surveyor. The children learned about different types of houses and homes and had the opportunity to see the various tools Bronagh uses in her work.
Fun with our friends from Knockevin!
As part of their topic, People Who Help Us, Primary 1 had a special visit from paramedics Colin and Emma. The class learned all about their important work and what it involves. They had an exciting tour inside the ambulance, where they got to see the many tools paramedics use. Miss Byrne even had her blood pressure checked! To top it off, the children experienced the ambulance siren and watched the blue lights in action. A big thank you to Colin and Emma for visiting Primary 1 today!
We started our new topic, People Who Help Us, with a great visit from the fire service. The P1s thought of some great questions to ask the fire fighters and they learned all about basic fire safety, fire alarms and who to call if there is a fire.
