Santa’s visit to Young at Heart.

The children at Young at Heart were very excited when Santa Claus made a surprise visit yesterday. They entertained him with some lovely songs which he really enjoyed. Santa gave all the children an early Christmas present for being so good.

We would like to thank Tesco Newcastle for their generous donation of a food hamper as a recognition of all our support during the pandemic.

Well done to everyone who took part and supported Ditch the Dark Day. It was fantastic to see so many of you actively travel to school. Remember, ‘Be Bright, Be Seen!’ ������‍♀️

                                       ��Halloween��
We had some spooktacular characters around our school in the run up to Halloween. We have had an unusual but very happy term so far and hope everyone is looking forward to a well-earned break. Keep safe and have a very happy Halloween! 
 

Sacrament of Confirmation 

We were delighted to welcome back last year’s P.7 Class for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Despite the postponement, we had an intimate ceremony and the pupils read beautifully. It was made Even more poignant and special to see the boys and girls in their new school uniforms and to reflect on how much they have grown up. Thanks to Fr.Fleck for a lovely service and to all our assistants who helped to organise this wonderful celebration.

Bike to Schools Week

Pupils had the opportunity to celebrate ‘Bike to Schools Week’ through a range of cycling related activities promoting healthy living, road safety and environmental travel. Well done to all our pupils who continue to walk, scoot or cycle to school. ����‍♀️��������

Eco-Council 

We would like to wish our new Eco-Council good luck for the year ahead. We know they will do a great job ensuring Sacred Heart remains Eco-Friendly. ��☘️����������‍♀️����

First Holy Communion

A massive congratulations goes out to Martin and Christopher Cunningham who were representing Ireland at The WUKF World Cup in Szczecin, Poland. 
Today Martin became the Under 9 Kumite Champion and Christopher came 3rd place in the Under 10 Kumite category. Well done boys. ����������

World Down Syndrome Day (21.3.19)

A selection of our fantastic pupils showing their support for World Down Syndrome Day by wearing odd and brightly coloured socks. Down Syndrome Day promotes the rights and individuality of all people with Down Syndrome.

                                     St Patrick’s Day Assembly 

St Patrick’s Day was celebrated in true style this morning in Sacred Heart PS with a special Assembly. Parents, grandparents and extended family were present to witness a fantastic range of story telling, singing, dancing, music and poetry delivered by our very talented pupils. Well done to all of the boys and girls on their performances! Thank you to the school community for attending and also to Paul Madden and Eva McAlea for all of their musical expertise and assistance in the music. Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Fantastic costumes from everyone, for this year’s World Book Day!

Week 1: Ireland; Can you guess what famous Irish landmarks we built?

Week 2: England; The Angel of the North, Stonehenge, Big Ben and Tower Bridge.

Week 3: bridges; you need to be able to pass over and pass under!

Week 4: skyscrapers; they need to be strong. It’s windy up there!

Week 5: The Great Wall; it’s long, it’s not straight and it has towers that once stationed soldiers. We worked together to build it.

Week 6: The Taj Mahal; the Indian palace. It is perfectly symmetrical. We replicated it!
