Taster day at Shimna Integrated College

P7 had a brilliant taster day at Shimna Integrated College today. The pupils enjoyed taking part in a range of activities including science experiments, speaking German and even making their own apple crumble! What a fun day of learning and new experiences. Well done everyone!

 Scoil Spreagtha Workshop

Children enjoyed taking part in a focus group with Scoil Spreagtha before trying out their new learning platform delivered through a workshop in class. We worked on our language, understanding and question/sentence building. We especially enjoyed a game of the 'Traitors' at the end! We will definitely be using this useful resource in class.

European Day of Languages

Primary 7 focused on the Irish language, incorporating it into their learning. We started the day with a song, counting together in Gaeilge. We then practised writing numbers to 100 in Irish before consolidating our knowledge by completing an Irish numbers quiz on the iPad. For our topic 'The Human Body', we labelled ourselves in Irish! The day was finished off with some fun team games during PE where we were grouped by colours in Irish. Happy European Day of Languages everyone! 

Student Council and Eco-Council elections!

Our P7 pupils have been busy sharing their fantastic ideas for our Eco Council and Student Council. Pupils confidently stood at the front of the class to present their ideas, while their classmates listened carefully and took notes. At the end, everyone had the opportunity to cast their vote.

A brilliant opportunity to develop confidence, communication, listening skills and pupil voice. Well done, P7 - we are so proud of you all and can't wait to see your amazing suggestions come to life.

Our first outing with P1 buddies!

We had the opportunity to visit the beach with our buddies from Primary One. All of the children were very engaged with some outdoor learning and there was lots of creativity on display. Have a look at what we got up to!

As a special treat to finish off our first week back at school, Primary 7's enjoyed some yummy ice cream. Thank you everyone! 🍦

Meeting our P1 buddies!

Primary Seven were so excited to meet their P1 buddies. Children had the opportunity to write their buddy a letter introducing themselves, discussing what their role as a buddy will be. We later had the opportunity to meet our buddies, reading stories and playing some games.
