P1 explored 2D shapes through a range of play-based activities. They enjoyed making shapes on geoboards, drawing pictures using shape stencils, completing shape patterns on the iPads, creating pictures using 2D shapes, making patterns with shape links, and pressing printed shapes into Play-Doh.

P1/2 had great fun with the sensory Numicon tray. The children had to feel the different Numicon pieces and say which number they had. We are working hard to develop early number skills through tactile experiences!

P1/2 have been busy developing their subitising skills! Subitising means recognising how many objects there are without needing to count them individually. This important skill helps children develop number sense, supports learning number bonds and builds a strong foundation for future maths learning. The children had lots of fun playing different games and taking part in hands-on activities to practise their subitising skills during numeracy time! 

P1 represented numbers 1-3 using loose parts. They have been working hard on number formation and wrote numbers 1-3 using chalk.  

Some super sorting and pattern work outside today. 

P1 worked on copying and continuing simple patterns this week. They enjoyed exploring patterns outdoors and using lots of fun play resources indoors.

P2 created more complex patterns, such as ABC, ABBC and beyond.
