This week, our school population came together to celebrate St Brigid’s Day, honouring one of Ireland’s most beloved saints and reflecting on her values of faith, generosity and kindness. Each class took part in creative activities to mark the occasion. 

P2/P3 boys and girls created beautifully coloured and laminated St Brigid’s crosses, showcasing their creativity whilst learning about the significance of this well-known Irish symbol. 

Our P4/P5 pupils produced brilliant artwork, drawing St Brigid’s cloak, inspired by the story of how her kindness and faith spread far and wide. Their colourful designs reflected the patchwork nature of the cloak, symbolising unity and care for others. 

In P5/P6, students crafted St Brigid inspired shields, featuring paper crosses as a symbol of protection and faith. These creative designs incorporated Celtic patterns and meaningful messages, connecting to St. Brigid’s legacy as a strong and compassionate leader. 

Meanwhile, our P7 pupils took on the challenge of making traditional St Brigid’s crosses, carefully weaving them just as generations before them have done. This hands-on activity allowed them to reflect on the importance of St Brigid’s faith and the enduring traditions that celebrate her life.

It was wonderful to see our pupils engage so thoughtfully with the stories and traditions of St Brigid, and we are proud of their creativity and enthusiasm in bringing her legacy to life.
