      Max P2 

      Max is a ray of sunshine in the P1/P2 class. He approaches every day with enthusiasm, kindness, and a positive attitude that brightens the classroom for everyone around him. Max always tries his very best and has made outstanding progress in all areas of school life. 

      We are especially proud of his fantastic achievements in blending and reading, as well as the great improvements he has made in his speech. 

      Max is a caring and thoughtful member of the class who is always willing to help others and has a kind word for everyone. Whether he is learning, playing in the sand pit, or supporting his friends, Max consistently demonstrates excellent manners and a wonderful attitude. 

      Max’s positivity, hard work, and kindness make him a truly deserving recipient of this award. We are so proud of him and the joy he brings to our classroom each day!

      The weather eased on Friday morning just in time for the school’s annual Sports Day, held at the GAA pitch. A fantastic range of events kept everyone entertained, including the egg and spoon race, sack race, sprint, long-distance run, staff race, penalty kick competition, dad’s race, mum’s race, tug o’ war, and the ever-popular ActiSport activity zone.

      POSH also ran a very successful fundraising BBQ as part of the day, and we extend our sincere thanks for their hard work and effort. It was a brilliant occasion all round—well done to all who took part, and great credit is due to the staff for organising such an enjoyable event.

    • Board Game Development

      *** Board Game Development ***

      Mr Doyle’s P4/P5 pupils recently explored procedural writing by designing and creating their own board games for pupils in P3, P6 and P7 to enjoy. They worked diligently to develop clear and engaging instructions using Just2Easy, incorporating key elements such as titles, equipment lists, rules for each square, challenge and chance cards, and clear win conditions. They also focused on important writing features, including imperative verbs and time connectives.

      Once completed, the games were shared with other classes, who thoroughly enjoyed playing them and provided very positive feedback. This was a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to apply their writing skills in a meaningful, real-life context and to celebrate their learning together.

    • Colour Run 2026

      *** Colour Run 2026 ***

      The school held its annual Colour Run at the Dundrum GAA club grounds on the Friday before our midterm break, and it proved to be a fantastic way to kick off the holidays. 

      Students and staff alike took part, running and walking the course while being showered with vibrant bursts of coloured powder at various points along the way. The atmosphere was lively and full of energy, with music playing, plenty of laughter, and a strong sense of community throughout the event.

      We were especially delighted to welcome our ASPIRE partners, Knockevin, who joined us for the day and added to the fun and excitement as well as the boys and girls from Young at Heart. 

      It was wonderful to see everyone coming together, supporting one another, and fully embracing the spirit of the occasion. By the end of the run, everyone was covered in colour and smiling, making it a truly memorable and enjoyable experience for all involved.

      Manna P3  

      Congratulations to Manna on receiving this week’s Principal’s Award. Manna is a complete ray of sunshine in the P3 class and brightens every day with her cheerful smile and positive attitude. She is always kind, caring and considerate towards others, showing a wonderfully selfless nature and being a fantastic friend to all of her peers.   

      Manna has worked extremely hard this term and has shown excellent independence in all areas of her learning. She has particularly impressed us with her dedication and success in Accelerated Reader, mental maths and her digital skills in Just 2 Easy.   

      Manna approaches every task with enthusiasm and gives her very best at all times. We are so proud of the friendly, hardworking and thoughtful young lady that Manna is. Keep shining your light and being the wonderful role model that you are!

      Last week’s Striving for Greatness Together award went to Caragh, Abbie, Éabha, Sonny, Neil and Shea for outstanding teamwork, careful listening, and creative writing during their rainforest learning. They worked collaboratively to gather information, take notes, share ideas, and create an excellent piece of writing about the layers of the rainforest. Well done!

    • Fun Fit Shield Final

      *** FunFit Down GAA Shield Final ***

      Sacred Heart P.S. faced Ballyholland P.S. in the FunFit Down GAA Shield Final on Friday evening at a resplendent Páirc Naomh Eoin. In a highly anticipated clash between the East and South Down champions, Ballyholland P.S. ultimately emerged as worthy winners at the final whistle.

      It was a fantastic occasion for our boys, beginning with a special pre-match parade, followed by a rousing rendition of Amhrán na bhFiann, and concluding with a post-match presentation. The atmosphere was superb, with a large turnout from the school community providing tremendous support throughout.

      Despite the result, it was a valuable and memorable learning experience for the team. The players can take great pride in their efforts as they now look ahead to the Cumann na mBunscol 9-a-side semi-finals and the Jarlath Carey Memorial Tournament.

    • JEP Showcase Day

      * JEP Showcase Day – A Fantastic Success! *

      JEP Showcase Day proved to be a tremendous success, with over 100 Sacred Heart Scarves sold on the day—an outstanding achievement and a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.

      A special word of praise must go to Miss McConville’s P6/P7 class, who demonstrated exceptional commitment throughout the entire process. From the initial planning and design stages, through to production, marketing, and sales, the pupils took full ownership of their project. They showed creativity in their ideas, determination in overcoming challenges, and excellent teamwork in ensuring everything was completed to a high standard.

      The project provided a valuable opportunity for the pupils to develop a wide range of skills, including communication, problem-solving, financial awareness, and enterprise. Their enthusiasm and professionalism on Showcase Day were evident to all who attended, and they represented the school with great pride.

      We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported the initiative by purchasing a scarf. Your encouragement and generosity played a vital role in making the day such a success and helped make the pupils’ efforts even more worthwhile.

      Well done again to all involved—this was a superb example of teamwork, initiative, and school spirit in action!
