      Ailbhe, Saoirse, Jude and Daire P2/P3 

      These P2 and P3 pupils are getting this acknowledgment this week for their excellent manners and fantastic behaviour in school. They are Ailbhe, Saoirse, Jude and Daire. These boys and girls consistently show kindness by supporting one another, including everyone else in the class and treating others with respect. They demonstrate strong friendship, working together as a team, encouraging each other and creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere in Sacred Heart P.S. They set a great example for others through their teamwork, positive attitude to both classwork and homework and willingness to help in every day school life.

      Faith P2 

      Faith is a great girl who we all think the world of! 

      She is a fantastic artist who approaches her work with creativity, care, and attention to detail. Faith is a kind and inclusive friend to everyone, always treating others with respect and displaying brilliant manners. She consistently sets a positive example through her thoughtful behaviour and positive attitude. 

      Faith takes great pride in her work, which is clearly reflected in her beautiful handwriting and her talent as a creative, imaginative, and engaging story writer. She is a genuine pleasure to teach, as she loves learning and is always eager to try new things and challenge herself. 

      Faith is extremely helpful in the classroom and beyond, always willing to support others. She gives 100% effort in everything she does and should be very proud of her achievements.

      A group of very special and deserving Pupil of the Week winners arrived to the Principal’s office yesterday afternoon after receiving their awards from their class teachers. Soon the discussion turned to reasoning and the boys and girls were able to confidently state why they had received this recognition. It was great to hear from them as they reflected on their great progress and solid endeavours.

      Grace P3

      Grace is a pleasure to teach. She is polite, friendly, caring and overall, a fantastic student. She comes into school each day with an eagerness and sense of anticipation which is so refreshing for all. 

      Grace spends break and lunchtimes with her friends, playing games, reading books or writing stories. Grace loves reading and writing, showing a real strength in both areas. Some of the stories Grace has produced have been outstanding and quite fittingly she recently told Mr McCartan that she would like to be an author one day!

      Grace listens to instruction brilliantly and gives 100% every day, she approaches school with a driven and enthusiastic mindset. Grace shows great diligence in her learning and participation in school. 

      Throughout Numeracy, she takes a strategic approach and uses concepts such as partitioning and counting on to show reasoning within her answers. 

      As a classmate Grace is a very supportive, kind and thoughtful person who looks out for her peers. Grace also recently read at our Grandparents' Day Mass, speaking confidently and clearly in front of a full congregation. 

      Well done, Grace, you thoroughly deserve this award!

      Luke, Aliaith, Liam and Arthur - P4/P5 

      Luke, Aliaith, Liam and Arthur are receiving this Striving for Greatness Together acknowledgment for being absolute superstars during our ASPIRE Shared Education visit to Knockevin last week. They showed beautiful manners, joined in brilliantly during the music lesson, played kindly with the other children and had great fun in the playground. They worked well as a team, were friendly and welcoming, listened carefully, and showed kindness, patience and a positive attitude throughout the whole day. They truly showed what it means to strive for greatness together, and we are all very proud of them.

    • Grandparents Day

      *** Grandparents’ Day 2026 ***

      As part of our Catholic Schools’ Week celebrations our school community gathered in the Sacred Heart Church this morning for a special Grandparents’ Day Mass. Our children were immersed in the service, doing readings, the Prayers of the Faithful, the offertory procession and participating in the choir. Their artwork also adorned the chapel.

      Afterwards our grandparents and family members came up to the school hall for tea, coffee and refreshments. They also gratefully received their special cards from their grandchildren that were made in preparation for the day.

      Lochlan P5 + Mathews P6 

      This week’s Striving for Greatness Together acknowledgment goes to Lochlan and Mathews for their excellent teamwork during the class learning on their World Around Us topic, Inventors and Inventions. 

      While working together to create a fact file about Thomas Edison, they shared ideas, supported one another’s learning, and encouraged each other to do their best work. 

      Their cooperation, positive attitude, and willingness to help one another made this a pleasure to see and is a wonderful example of what it means to strive for greatness together.

      Kai P1, Max P2, Laetare P3, Niamh P4, Lorcan P5, Declan Óg P6 and Cahal P7 were all ecstatic at assembly this afternoon as they each received the Pupil of the Week acknowledgement for their efforts over these last five days.

      As ever, it was a delight for everyone to listen to the teachers explaining the reasoning as to why each individual got their recognition. This adds value and really defines the reasoning behind such selections.
