*** World Around Us Celebration Day ***

A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us in school on Wednesday past for our World Around Us Celebration Day. It was wonderful to welcome so many of you into the school hall to share in the children’s learning. Miss Crozier, our WAU co-ordinator, had set out to ensure that the great work that was going in the subject area be showcased. Similarly, the promotion of the scientific element of learning within WAU was also feted as this is a key focus in school this past while.

Every class has been working incredibly hard on their projects, and it was fantastic to see their enthusiasm as they proudly presented their work — from the wonders of the forest and magnificent castles to inventive creations, the water cycle, and even erupting volcanoes!

Your support and encouragement mean so much to the children and staff, and we were delighted to celebrate their creativity, teamwork, and achievement together.

*** Mental Maths Monsters ***

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Mental Maths Monsters Competition! Each year group designed a unique monster linked to the mental maths strategy they were assigned to. The creativity, colour, and imagination in every entry was outstanding!

After much deliberation, we were delighted to announce the winning monsters for each year group at assembly yesterday. These winning designs will now be digitised by a graphic designer and proudly displayed across classrooms and shared spaces in our school. This initiative, led by Numeracy co-ordinator Mr Doyle, was a key facet of this year’s action plan in connection with school improvement.

In the days leading up to St Brigid’s Day, our pupils took part in a range of fun and creative activities to welcome the start of spring. 

Classes made St Brigid’s crosses, enjoyed spring-themed art, listened to stories about St Brigid, and explored early signs of spring around the school grounds.

A big thank you to all staff and students for their wonderful work. It was great too to be able to celebrate Mass this morning as a school community.
