*** Mathlete of the Month – February ***

We are pleased to announce our Mathlete of the Month award recipients for February. This recognition is presented to pupils who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, progress, and confidence in their mathematical learning throughout the month.

Each of the pupils selected has shown:

• Strong problem‑solving skills across a range of numeracy activities
• Consistent effort and focus during classwork, group tasks and independent learning
• Positive engagement in mental maths, reasoning challenges and daily number routines
• A willingness to persevere, even when faced with more demanding concepts or new strategies

Their dedication to improving their mathematical understanding has been evident not only in their written work, but also in their classroom discussions, use of mathematical language, and readiness to attempt increasingly challenging tasks.

We congratulate all of our award winners for their achievements and the excellent example they set for their peers. Their enthusiasm for Numeracy continues to strengthen our whole‑school learning culture.

*** Striving for Greatness Together Acknowledgement ***

Penelope and Ella - P5/P6  

This week’s Striving for Greatness Together acknowledgment goes to Penelope and Ella for their excellent teamwork whilst preparing for the St Patrick’s Day concert. They worked together to create a beautiful county banner and research interesting facts, showing creativity and pride in their work.  They supported each other throughout and are always among the first to help a classmate. Their kindness and teamwork are a wonderful example of what it means to strive for greatness together. Well done girls!

*** CPR Course ***

Our P7 pupils took part in the Avonmore Junior Responders CPR course today, and what a fantastic learning experience it was!

The children were introduced to vital lifesaving skills, including how to recognise an emergency, call for help, and perform high‑quality CPR. They also had the chance to practise chest compressions using training manikins, giving them a realistic sense of how to respond confidently in a real‑life situation.

The instructor was brilliant at breaking everything down into clear, child‑friendly steps, and the pupils showed excellent focus, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout. Learning these skills not only helps build confidence but also empowers our young people to make a real difference in their community.

A huge thank you to Avonmore for delivering such an engaging and important session. We are very proud of our P7s for their application and giving it their best.

*** Pupil of the Week ***

We are delighted to celebrate the fantastic efforts of our pupils this week. A huge well done to the following children who have impressed their teachers with their hard work, positive attitude, and brilliant contributions in class:

*** Principal’s Award ***

Noah P7

We are pleased to celebrate Noah as one of Sacred Heart’s exceptional role models this week! 

Noah is a truly kind and caring member of the P6/P7 class family. He is always a thoughtful and supportive friend to his classmates, and he takes wonderful care of his P1 buddy! It is lovely to see the patience and encouragement he shows towards others in class and in our school community. 

This week, when creating their ICT posters, Noah quietly stepped in to help his peers, offering guidance on how to use Just2Easy with such maturity and confidence. What a wonderful example of teamwork! 

Noah is also a dynamic and enthusiastic learner. During the WAU work on volcanoes, he impressed the class with his creative thinking and excellent ideas. He contributes so thoughtfully to discussions and is never afraid to share his learning in a positive and respectful way. His curiosity and eagerness to learn truly brighten the classroom. 

Beyond the classroom, Noah shines in all of the sports on offer at Sacred Heart P.S. He shows great skill, determination and teamwork during PE and school sports activities. Whether working as part of a team or trying his very best in an individual challenge, Noah gives 100% and encourages those around him to do the same. His positive attitude and sporting spirit make him a fantastic all-rounder. 

Alongside his many talents, Noah’s manners are exceptional. He is always polite and respectful to his classmates, teachers, and classroom assistants. He consistently follows the school rules, keeps his books beautifully neat and tidy, and approaches every task with care and a great attitude. Most importantly, he always tries his very best. Noah truly lives out our school motto of “Striving for Greatness Together” in everything he does.
